Belinda Sturm, Associate professor of the University of Kansas, visited CIGTI and gave a talk with a topic of “A Sustainable Platform for Biofuels Production: Coupling nutrient removal from wastewater with algal biomass production” on Sep. 2. Professor Guo Jinsong, Director of The Three Gorges Institute of ecological environment, hosted the lecture. Prof. Xu Yuanjian, Associate Prof. Song Liyan, Li Zhe, Chen Youpeng and other researchers and students attended and made academic exchanges after the talk.
Belinda Sturm, Ph.D. of University of University of Notre Dame, Postdoctoral researcher in University of California, now is an Associate professor of the University of Kansas. Her group’s research interests are biological wastewater treatment, biodiesel production, wastewater treatment, etc. She has published a book and dozens of papers with total citations exceeded over 500. She received an award named “American Academy of Environmental Engineering Excellence Honor Award for University Research”.
