IMHE Invents A New Method Against Debris-flow by Main-river Transport Capacity Control

09 06, 2013

IMHE researchers invented a new method against debris-flow by main-river transport capacity control, and the patent of this invention has been issued in China.

The invention discloses a  control method which comprises the followings steps: firstly, according to the transport capacity of a main river, carrying out debris-flow control by using a water-draining and drainage works; then, based on the water-draining and guide engineering, if the debris flow still has materials which can not be transported to the downstream of the main river  carrying out debris-flow control by using the water-draining and drainage worksand a blocking works; and finally, based on the water-draining and drainage works and the blocking works, if the debris flow still has materials which can not be consumed completely, carrying out debris-flow control by using the water-draining and drainage works, the blocking works, and a silt-removing works. Compared with the prior art, in the method disclosed by the invention, the transport capacity of the main river is fully utilized, and based on the water draining and the reasonable on-way distribution of debris-flow materials, a debris-flow control system engineering is subjected to reasonable allocation, thereby realizing the safe draining of the debris flow, avoiding the occurrence of secondary disasters of barrier lakes caused by that the main river is blocked by excessively drained debris flow, and fully guaranteeing the safety of mountain towns, major engineering and infrastructures located at the outlets of debris flows.

At press time , this invention passed the application of Patent Cooperation Treaty(PCT), and have been granted by US U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
