Born on August 7th,1957 in Shaanxi,studys on geohazard mitigation and control, specializes in debris flow and landslide mitigation and control,water and soil conservation. Studied Physical Geography at Northwest University for Bachelor degree from September 1978 to July 1982; studied Physical Geography at Institute of Geography, CAS for Master degree from September 1982 to July 1985; studied Water and Soil Conservation (Environmental Science) for Doctor degree at Beijing Forestry University from March 1987 to May 1990; studied at Department of Geography, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA as Visiting scholar from October 1994 to October 1995;worked at Department of Geography, King’s College London, University of London, UK as Royal Society research fellow from October 1995 to February 1997. Worked at Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, CAS from July 1985 till now.
